Shelly A. Glover (born January 2, 1967) is a former police officer and politician from Canada. She made history in 2008 by becoming the first policewoman to be elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in Canada. An MP is a person elected to represent a specific area, called a riding, in the Canadian Parliament.
Shelly Glover represented the riding of Saint Boniface in Manitoba from 2008 to 2015. She was a member of the Conservative Party. She also served in the Canadian government's cabinet under former Prime Minister Stephen Harper. She was a Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and later became the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. Before becoming an MP, Glover worked for the Winnipeg Police Service for almost 19 years, reaching the rank of sergeant.

Her Time in Federal Politics
Shelly Glover first ran for election in 2008 for the Conservative Party. She won the election in the Saint Boniface area of Manitoba. She beat the current MP, Raymond Simard, by more than 4,500 votes. This win made her the first policewoman ever to become a Member of Parliament in Canada.
In November 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper chose Glover to be the Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages. She was re-elected in 2011. This was a special moment because it was the first time an MP from a centre-right party had been re-elected in that area. Shelly Glover decided not to run for re-election in 2015.
Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
On July 15, 2013, Shelly Glover was given an important job: Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. In this role, she helped support Canadian culture and the use of both English and French languages.
For example, in October 2013, her department supported a group called Tsi Kionhnheht Ne Onkwawenna Language Circle (TKNOLC). This group works to create tools to help people learn the Mohawk language.
After Federal Politics
After her time in federal politics, Shelly Glover left the Winnipeg Police Service in April 2018. She had been on leave from the police force while serving as an MP.
Provincial Politics
In August 2021, Shelly Glover announced she wanted to become the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba. This is a political party that works at the provincial level in Manitoba. She was one of two candidates running for the leadership position. She lost the election by a small number of votes.

- On July 15, 2013, Shelly Glover was made a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. This special appointment gives her the title "The Honourable" and the letters "PC" after her name for the rest of her life.
