Shervin Haji Aghapour (Persian: شروین حاجی آقاپور) is an Iranian singer and songwriter, born on March 30, 1997. He became well-known for his song "Baraye", which was called an "anthem" during the 2022 protests in Iran. In 2023, he won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Song for Social Change for "Baraye".
Time magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023.

Shervin's Early Life and School
Shervin Haji Aghapour was born in Babolsar, Mazandaran, Iran. He started learning music when he was eight years old, taking violin lessons. As he got older, he began to compose music professionally.
He went to the University of Mazandaran and earned a degree in economics. While studying there, he created music for plays and helped with editing. Later, he started singing his own songs.
Shervin's Music Career
When Shervin was 22, he joined New Era, a popular TV talent show in Iran. He made it to the finals of the first season's second round. This helped him gain recognition among young Iranians.
The Song "Baraye"
During the 2022 protests in Iran, Shervin released his song "Baraye" (which means "For..." or "Because of..."). The words for the song came from messages and feelings shared by people online who supported the protests. The song also mentioned the important slogan "Zan, Zendegi, Âzâdi".
