Sherwan is a special area known as a Union Council in Pakistan. It is part of the Abbottabad District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Sherwan is located about 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) west of the city of Abbottabad.
People of Sherwan
More than 15,000 people live in Sherwan. The main language spoken here is Hindko. People also understand and speak Urdu. The two main groups of families, often called tribes, in this area are the Tanolis and the Awans.
Where is Sherwan?
Sherwan is found in a lovely valley. This valley is surrounded by large mountains covered in forests on three sides. Wild animals live in these forests. You might find animals like jackals, wolves, wild pigs, and porcupines.
Sherwan itself is divided into two main parts. These parts are called Sherwan Khurd and Sherwan Kalan. "Khurd" means small, and "Kalan" means wide or large. Sherwan Kalan covers a much bigger area than Sherwan Khurd. In the northeast part of the Sherwan Union Council, there is another place named Patheel.
