Where It Grows
This tree is found only in certain places. It grows on the islands of Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. These islands are part of a group called the Greater Sunda Islands.
You can find Syzygium antisepticum in dry evergreen forests. It especially likes to grow in forests near the coast.
What It Looks Like
Syzygium antisepticum is a medium-sized tree. It has a very noticeable red trunk. The bark on its trunk often looks flaky.
Its leaves are shiny and dark green on the top side. The underside of the leaves is a lighter green. When the leaves are young, they have a reddish color.
