Shoreditch and Finsbury was a special area in London that elected one person to represent it in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This area was located in the Shoreditch and Finsbury parts of the East End of London. It was known as a "parliamentary constituency," which is like a voting district.

The people living in Shoreditch and Finsbury voted for a Member of Parliament (MP). This MP would then go to the House of Commons in Parliament to speak for the area. The voting system used was called "first-past-the-post," meaning the candidate with the most votes won.

This constituency was created for the 1950 general election. It was formed by combining parts of two older constituencies, Shoreditch and Finsbury. These older areas had fewer people living in them, so they were merged. Shoreditch and Finsbury stopped being a constituency in February 1974. Its land was then split into two new constituencies: Islington South & Finsbury and Hackney South & Shoreditch.

The Shoreditch and Finsbury constituency covered two main local government areas: the Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch and the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury.

In 1965, there were some changes to London's local government. The Shoreditch area became part of the new London Borough of Hackney. At the same time, Finsbury became part of the London Borough of Islington. Even with these changes, the boundaries of the Shoreditch and Finsbury parliamentary constituency stayed exactly the same until it was abolished in 1974.
