Shunta Nagai (永井 俊太, Nagai Shunta, born July 12, 1982) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Tokyo, Japan. His father, Yoshikazu Nagai, was also a famous football player.

Shunta Nagai's Football Journey

Shunta Nagai started his professional football career in 2001. After finishing high school, he joined a team called Kashiwa Reysol. He played as a Midfielder.

Playing for Kashiwa Reysol

When Shunta first joined Kashiwa Reysol, he did not play in many games. To get more experience, he moved to another team. In August 2004, he joined Mito HollyHock on a loan.

Time at Mito HollyHock

At Mito HollyHock, Shunta became a regular player. This means he played in most of the team's matches. He scored 4 goals during his time there. After playing well, he returned to Kashiwa Reysol in 2006.

Returning to Kashiwa Reysol

Back at Kashiwa Reysol, Shunta played in many games until 2007. However, his chances to play became less frequent from 2008. He then decided to move to a new team.

Joining Ehime FC and Retirement

In June 2009, Shunta Nagai joined Ehime FC. He played 26 matches for them. At the end of the 2009 season, Shunta decided to retire from professional football. He had a career playing in 142 matches in total.

Playing for Japan's Youth Team

Shunta Nagai also had a chance to represent his country. In June 2001, he was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. This team plays against other countries' youth teams. They competed in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. Even though he was part of the team, Shunta did not play in any of the matches during this championship.
