John Thomas "Sib" Hashian (born August 17, 1949 – died March 22, 2017) was an American musician. He was most famous as the drummer for the rock band Boston.

Sib Hashian's Music Career

Playing Drums for Boston

Sib Hashian joined the band Boston in 1975. The band's leader, Tom Scholz, chose him to be the new drummer. Sib replaced the original drummer, Jim Masdea.

Sib played drums on Boston's first album, which was called Boston. He also played on their next album, Don't Look Back. Later, he worked on early songs for Boston's Third Stage album. However, he was replaced by Jim Masdea before the album was finished.

After leaving Boston, Sib Hashian and Tom Scholz had a disagreement about money. They later settled their issues outside of court.

Other Music and Activities

Sib also played drums for Barry Goudreau's solo album in 1980. Barry was another member of the band Boston. This album had a popular rock song called "Dreams."

After these projects, Sib Hashian owned some tanning salons in Boston. He also had a small record shop. He sometimes played music with his old bandmates in the Boston area. These bandmates included Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan, and Brad Delp.

In 2001, Sib tried acting for the first time. He was in a play called 9-Ball at the Cape Cod Repertory Theater. He also appeared in the Boston premiere of 9-Ball in 2004.

In 2003, he played with Sammy Hagar's band, The Waboritas. In 2005, he was on a TV show called R U the Girl. His daughter Lauren was a contestant on the show. In 2006, he recorded music with a band called Ernie and the Automatics.

From 2012, Sib co-hosted a local TV show in New England called Scorch's PFG-TV.

Sib Hashian's Family Life

Sib Hashian had Armenian and Italian family roots. He lived in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, with his wife, Suzanne. They had a son named Adam and two daughters.

His daughters are Aja Hashian, who writes songs, and Lauren Hashian, who sings and writes songs. Lauren was on the TV show R U the Girl in 2005. She has been in a relationship with actor Dwayne Johnson since 2007. They got married on August 18, 2019. Sib was the grandfather to their two daughters before he passed away.

Sib Hashian died on March 22, 2017. He was 67 years old. He had a heart attack while performing on a cruise ship. The ship was called the Independence of the Seas.
