Sibel Can (born Sibel Cangüre on 1 August 1970) is a famous Turkish singer. She sings folk pop and classical Turkish music. Sibel Can started her career as a dancer when she was 14 years old. Later, she became a very popular singer.

Early Life
Sibel Can was born in Karagümrük, Fatih, a part of Istanbul, Turkey. She was the first child of Engin Cangüre and Emine Gül Sezer Cangüre. Her father was a violinist from Yugoslavia. He played music for many famous singers. Her mother was from Mudanya.

Starting Out
Sibel Can began her career as a belly dancer at age 14. She performed with her father across Turkey. They appeared in famous clubs like Galata Tower. At 17, she was asked to perform at Maksim Casino. Because she was so young, her birth date was officially changed to allow her to work there. At Maksim Casino, she worked with well-known artists.
In 1987, Sibel Can released her first music album, Günah Bize. Orhan Gencebay, a famous musician, helped her with the album. In 1988, she started singing at Maksim Casino. Orhan Gencebay also produced her first few albums.
Becoming Famous
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Sibel Can released a new album almost every year. In 1995, she signed a contract with Raks Müzik. Her ninth album, Bu Devirde, came out in 1997. The main song from this album was "Padişah," written by Serdar Ortaç.
The music video for "Padişah" was very popular. It helped Sibel Can gain many fans. The album became a top seller in Turkey. After this success, she performed many concerts. Important people praised her talent.
From 2000 to Today
In 2000, Sibel Can released a new album called İşte Türk Sanat Müziği İşte Sibel Can. In 2001, she started working with Emre Plak. She also acted in the movie Papatya ile Karabiber in 2002.
Her 2006 album, Özledin mi?, sold 200,000 copies. It received a special diamond award. At the award show, she sang "Lale Devri" with Sezen Aksu, who wrote the song. In 2007, her album Akşam Sefası came out. It included the hit song "Çakmak Çakmak," written by Tarkan.
In 2009, she released Benim Adım Aşk. This was followed by Seyyah in 2011. The song "Hançer" from Seyyah became a big hit. In 2012, she released Meşk. Her twentieth album, Galata, came out in 2014. Sibel Can also appeared in advertisements for Cashmere Carpet for many years.
In April 2016, Sibel Can released her album Arabesque. All the songs were composed by Burhan Bayar. These songs had the style of 1980s Turkish music. She performed concerts to promote the album. She said that Orhan Gencebay helped her discover her talent for Arabesque music.
At a concert in August 2016, she sang "Bağdat" with Ayla Çelik. She also performed "Günah Benim" with rappers Eypio and Burak King. She was excited to rap for the first time. In October 2016, she became a judge on the singing competition O Ses Türkiye. In November 2016, she won the Best Arabesque-Fantasy Music Artist award.
In 2017, Sibel Can starred in the TV series Sevda'nın Bahçesi. In June 2018, her album Yeni Aşkım was released. Critics liked that she included songs from different artists like Bahadır Tatlıöz and Yalın.
Personal Life
Sibel Can married Hakan Ural in 1988. They had two children, Engincan and Melisa. They divorced in 1999. A year later, she married Sulhi Aksüt. They had a son named Emir. Sibel Can and Sulhi Aksüt divorced in 2010.
