Sidney Diamond (born 7 July 1986), also known as Young Sid, is a talented New Zealand rapper. He is known for his powerful music and his journey in the New Zealand hip-hop scene.

About Sid Diamond's Early Life
Sid Diamond was born in South Auckland, New Zealand. He later moved to Manukau City, which is also in Auckland. Sid has a background that includes both Cook Island and Māori heritage. He grew up in the Ōtara area of Manukau.
Sid's older brother, Karlos, was also interested in rapping. He was known by the name Mr Sicc. Sid became interested in American hip-hop music after listening to his brother's music. He recorded his very first song when he was just eleven years old. He was also part of a music group for a short time when he was younger.
Sid Diamond's Music Career
Sid Diamond started a hip-hop group called Smashproof in 2005. He formed the group with two other members, Tyree and Deach. They signed a music contract with Move The Crowd Records. This record label is part of Universal Records. Sid decided to focus on his music career full-time after signing the contract.
Solo Albums and Success
Sid released his first solo album, The Truth, in 2007. It was released through Move The Crowd Records. The album included a special guest appearance by the artist Chamillionaire. Sid spent three weeks in New York working on the songs for this album. Many of the songs were produced in different countries, including Croatia, France, and New Zealand.
The Truth was a success, reaching No. 27 on the New Zealand album charts. It also won the Urban Album of the Year award at the 2008 Māori Music Awards.
Smashproof and Chart Records
Sid's first album with his group Smashproof was called The Weekend. It came out in March 2009. The album featured a very popular song called "Brother." This song made history by staying at number one on the New Zealand singles chart for a long time. It broke a record that had stood for 23 years!
Sid also had the chance to open for the famous rapper Ice Cube. This happened during Ice Cube's Straight Outta Compton Tour concert in Manukau City in August 2007.
In 2010, Sid Diamond released his second solo album, What Doesn't Kill Me.... This album was also very popular. It stayed on the music charts for eight weeks. It also earned Sid his second Urban Album of the Year award at the Māori Music Awards.
