Sidney Diamond (born 7 July 1986), also known as Young Sid, is a talented New Zealand rapper. He has released several albums and won awards for his music.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Sid Diamond was born in South Auckland, New Zealand. He later moved to Manukau City, also in Auckland. He grew up in the Ōtara area of Manukau. Sid is from both Cook Island and Māori backgrounds.
From a young age, Sid was interested in music. He became a fan of American hip hop. He recorded his very first song when he was just eleven years old. He was also part of a music group called The Murder Squad for a short time.
Music Career
Sid Diamond helped form a hip-hop group called Smashproof in 2005. The other members were Tyree and Deach. They signed a record deal with Move The Crowd Records. This happened during Sid's first semester at university. He decided to leave university to focus on his music full-time.
Solo Albums
Sid released his first solo album, The Truth, in 2007. It was released by Move The Crowd. A famous rapper named Chamillionaire was featured on the album. Sid spent three weeks in New York recording songs for it. Many of the songs were produced in different countries.
The Truth reached number 27 on the New Zealand album charts. It also won the Urban Album of the Year award in 2008. This award was given at the Māori Music Awards.
In 2010, Sid released his second album, What Doesn't Kill Me.... This album was also very successful. It stayed on the charts for eight weeks. It earned him his second Urban Album of the Year award. This award was also from the Māori Music Awards.
Smashproof Success
Sid's first album with Smashproof was called The Weekend. It came out in March 2009. The main song from this album was "Brother." This song became a huge hit. It broke a 23-year-old record. It was the longest-running number one song by a New Zealand artist.
Sid Diamond has also performed with other famous artists. He was the opening act for Ice Cube's concert. This concert was part of the Straight Outta Compton Tour. It took place in Manukau City in August 2007.
