After Sigeferth and Morcar died, King Æthelred took control of all their lands. He also put Sigeferth's wife, Ealdgyth, in prison.

However, a different king, King Edmund Ironside, later took Ealdgyth out of prison and married her. King Edmund then gave away some of the lands that had belonged to Sigeferth to other people.
