The Story of Silver Diner
Silver Diner is a well-known place to eat. It has grown a lot since it first started.
How It Started
The very first Silver Diner opened its doors in 1989. Two friends, Bob Giaimo and Ype Von Hengst, created it. This first restaurant was in Rockville, Maryland. It quickly became very popular! Today, the company runs 23 restaurants. They are spread across New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Over 1,700 people work for Silver Diner.
Expanding to Airports
In 2007, Silver Diner opened a new kind of location. They set up their first restaurant inside an airport. This was at the AirMall in Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). It was their sixteenth restaurant overall.
New Restaurant Ideas
Silver Diner also tried new things. In 2015, they launched a different restaurant chain. It was called Silver. This new place was a bit more fancy. It was a casual restaurant and bar. It also served special mixed drinks.
Growing with Partners
In 2016, a company called Goode Partners invested in Silver Diner. This investment helped Silver Diner grow even more. It allowed them to expand their business.
