Simon Dallow is a well-known journalist and television personality from New Zealand. He was born on 18 June 1964. Before becoming a TV star, he worked as a barrister, which is a type of lawyer.
Simon Dallow's Early Life
Simon Dallow went to school at Liston College and St Peter's College. He then studied law at Auckland University. After finishing his studies, Simon worked as a lawyer in Auckland. He focused on cases involving lawsuits and insurance.
When he was 20 years old, Simon learned about his whakapapa Māori links. This means he discovered his family connections to Māori people.
Simon decided to change his career path after a big event. This was the 1987 stock market crash, which made him rethink his future in law. For the next six years, Simon worked as a tour director for Contiki Tours in Europe. He led groups of travelers around the continent. During this time, he met Alison Mau, who would later become his wife.
Simon and Alison returned to New Zealand in 1993. They both started working for TVNZ, a major TV network. Simon and Alison married in 1996 and had two children together. They separated in 2009.
Simon Dallow's TV Career
Simon Dallow has worked at TVNZ since 1993. He started as a presenter for a show called Newsnight on TV2. He worked alongside Alison Mau and Marcus Lush.
In 1995, Simon and Alison began presenting the evening news show, One Network News. They moved to presenting the weekend news bulletins in 1998. Since 2006, Simon has been the main news presenter for 1 News at Six. For many years, he presented this show with Wendy Petrie.
The 1 News at Six show is usually broadcast live from a studio in Auckland. However, Simon often travels to different places to report live on breaking news stories. From 2005 to 2007, Simon also worked in radio. He presented a mid-morning show on a station then known as Viva FM, now called Mix.
In 2023, a fake video of Simon Dallow appeared online. This video was created using artificial intelligence (AI). It was used to advertise gambling websites. This shows how important it is to be careful about what you see and trust online.
