Simon Dallow is a well-known New Zealand journalist and television personality. He was born on June 18, 1964. Before becoming a TV star, he also worked as a barrister, which is a type of lawyer. He is most famous for presenting the main evening news show, 1 News at Six, in New Zealand.

Early Life and Education
Simon Dallow is the son of Ross Dallow. He went to high school at Liston College and St Peter's College in Auckland. After high school, he studied law at the University of Auckland.
Starting His Career
After finishing his law studies, Simon worked as a lawyer in Auckland. He focused on cases involving lawsuits and insurance. When he was 20, he learned about his whakapapa Māori links, which means his family connections to Māori heritage.
A Change in Direction
While Simon was traveling overseas, a big event called the 1987 stock market crash happened. This made him think about changing his career. He decided that working with bankruptcy law was not for him.
So, Simon spent the next six years working as a tour director in Europe for a company called Contiki Tours. This is where he met his future wife, Alison Mau.
Returning to New Zealand
In 1993, Simon and Alison both came back to New Zealand. They both started working for TVNZ, which is a major television company. Simon and Alison married in 1996 and had two children. They later separated in 2009.
Television Career
Simon Dallow has worked for TVNZ since 1993. He started as a presenter for a show called Newsnight on TV2. He worked alongside Alison Mau and Marcus Lush.
Becoming a News Presenter
From 1995, Simon and Alison presented the mid-evening news show, One Network News. In 1998, they moved to presenting the weekend news bulletins.
Since 2006, Simon Dallow has been the main news presenter for 1 News at Six. For many years, he presented this show with Wendy Petrie until 2020. The news show is usually broadcast live from a studio in Auckland. However, Simon often reports live from different locations when there are important breaking news stories.
Other Work
From 2005 to 2007, Simon also presented a mid-morning radio show on Mix, which was known as Viva FM at the time.
In 2023, a fake video of Simon Dallow was created using artificial intelligence. This video was used to advertise gambling websites. It was not real and was made without his permission.
