Simon Thomas is a well-known English television presenter. He was born on January 26, 1973. He is famous for hosting Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports. Simon also spent six years presenting the popular children's show Blue Peter. From 2016 to 2018, he presented live Premier League football for Sky Sports.

Early Life and Education

Simon Thomas was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England. His parents are Andrew and Gill Thomas. He has two sisters, Hannah and Rebecca. Simon grew up in Cromer and then Grimston. He went to Grimston Primary and Middle School.

Later, his family moved to Surrey. There, he attended Aberdour School in Tadworth and St. John's School, Leatherhead. After finishing school, Simon went to Birmingham University. He earned a degree in history there.

Broadcasting Career

Simon Thomas has had a long and exciting career in television. He has worked for the BBC and Sky Sports.

Working on Blue Peter

Simon Thomas joined the children's show Blue Peter on January 8, 1999. He had applied for the job three times before getting it! Before this, he worked behind the scenes at Children's BBC and a radio station called LBC.

During his time on Blue Peter, Simon did many amazing things. He ran in the London Marathon twice. He also completed two Great North Runs. He climbed huge mountains like Mount Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc. Simon even did over 40 solo skydives with the Royal Air Force. He presented a medal at the Commonwealth Games. He also ran in a 60-meter sprint against famous athletes.

Simon also had the special chance to present the Queen with a Gold Blue Peter badge. He joked that with the badge, "she could get into the Tower of London free." Simon worked with other presenters like Konnie Huq and Matt Baker. He announced he would leave Blue Peter in January 2005. His last live show was on April 25, 2005.

Time at Sky Sports

After leaving the BBC, Simon Thomas joined Sky Sports in June 2005. He started by presenting on Sky Sports News. He also presented Cricket AM during the summer.

In 2010, Simon became the main presenter for Sky Sports' live Football League coverage. He also presented live League Cup football from 2014. From August 2016, Simon began presenting live Premier League matches. He often worked with famous football experts like Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry.

Other TV Appearances

In May 2019, Simon took part in a mini-series for This Morning. It was called 'Pursuits of Happiness'. The series showed different activities people used to help with their mental well-being. In September 2019, he also appeared on the show to help raise awareness for blood cancer symptoms.

Personal Life

Simon Thomas married his first wife, Gemma, in 2005. They had one child together. Gemma passed away in 2017. Simon married his second wife, Derrina Jebb, in 2021. They welcomed a daughter in 2022 and a son in 2024. The family lives in Buckinghamshire.

Simon is a Christian. He is also a lifelong fan of Norwich City F.C.. He is a vice-president of the Norwich City Supporters Trust.
