Sir Archibald Watkin Hamilton (born December 10, 1876 – died March 18, 1939) was a British man who became a Muslim. In 1923, he took the name Abdullah.

He was the son of Sir Edward Archibald Hamilton. When his father passed away in 1915, Archibald inherited two special family titles called "baronetcies." He was also related to many important people, including a duke and a lord who married a Scottish princess. Sir Archibald served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Defence Corps. He was also involved in politics, once leading a local Conservative group in Selsey. For a short time in the 1930s, he was part of a political group led by Sir Oswald Mosley.

Sir Archibald was married three times during his life. He also got divorced twice.

His First Marriage to Olga FitzGeorge

On December 18, 1897, Sir Archibald married Olga FitzGeorge in London. Olga was the daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir Adolphus FitzGeorge. She was also the granddaughter of the Duke of Cambridge and a cousin to Queen Victoria.

Archibald and Olga had two children. Their son, George FitzGeorge Hamilton, was born on December 30, 1898. Important people like Queen Mary and King George V attended his baptism. They even promised to be his godparents. Sadly, George was killed in a war in May 1918. Archibald and Olga also had a daughter who was born and died on the same day, May 5, 1902. Sir Archibald and Olga divorced in 1902.

His Second Marriage to Algorta Child

In November 1906, Sir Archibald married Algorta Marjory Blanche Child. She was the daughter of George Child. This marriage also ended in divorce in 1915.

His Third Marriage to Lilian Austen

In 1927, Sir Archibald married Lilian Maud Austen. Lilian was born in 1880 and passed away in 1964. She also became a Muslim, taking the name Miriam.

Why Sir Archibald Became a Muslim

Sir Archibald became a Muslim on December 20, 1923. He explained that he was always drawn to "the beauty and the simple purity of Islam." Even though he grew up as a Christian, he found that he couldn't fully believe in some of the strict rules of the Church. He felt that both the Church of Rome and the Church of England "were of no real use" to him. After converting to Islam, he felt like "a better and truer man."

His Passing

Sir Archibald passed away on March 18, 1939, when he was 62 years old. He is buried at the Brookwood Cemetery. His grave is next to Rowland Allanson-Winn, 5th Baron Headley. They were "great friends in life" and worked together to support Islam.
