Sir Edmund Bacon (born around 1680 or 1686, died 1755) was an important person in British politics. He came from Garboldisham in Norfolk, England. Sir Edmund was a baronet, which is a special title passed down in a family. He also served in the British House of Commons, which is a part of the British government, like a parliament. He was a member of parliament (MP) for many years between 1710 and 1741.

Early Life and Family

Edmund Bacon was the oldest son of Sir Robert Bacon, who was the 5th Baronet. His mother was Elizabeth Chandler. He started studying at Pembroke College, Cambridge in 1697. When his father passed away in 1704, Edmund became the 6th Baronet. This meant he inherited his father's special title.

Becoming a Politician

In 1710, Sir Edmund Bacon became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Thetford. An MP is someone who represents a specific area in the government. He held this job for Thetford until 1713.

After that, he represented Norfolk in the government from 1713 to 1715. He later became an MP for Norfolk again, serving from 1728 until 1741. This shows he was involved in politics for a long time.

His Family Life

Sir Edmund Bacon married Mary Kemp on November 27, 1712. Mary was the daughter of another important person, Sir Robert Kemp. They got married in a place called Ubbeston in Suffolk.

Sir Edmund and Mary had four daughters. However, they did not have any sons. Because of this, when Sir Edmund passed away in 1755, his special title of Baronet went to a different branch of the family. It went to a descendant of Sir Butts Bacon. This also meant that two different family lines of the Baronet title became connected.
