Six Run Creek is a stream located in southeastern North Carolina, United States. It is a branch, or tributary, of the Black River. This creek is quite long, stretching for about 46.84 mi (75.38 km).

The creek begins in the northeastern part of Sampson County. This is roughly 15 miles (24 km) north of a town called Clinton. From its start, Six Run Creek generally flows towards the south.

As it continues its journey, Six Run Creek eventually reaches the southern part of Sampson County. Here, about 10 miles (16 km) south of Clinton, it meets up with another important stream. This stream is called Great Coharie Creek. When these two creeks join together, they form the beginning of the Black River.

Where Six Run Creek Flows

Six Run Creek starts at an elevation of about 180 ft (55 m) above sea level. Its source is near Hobbton, North Carolina. The creek then flows south and southwest. It travels through a large area called a basin, which covers about 274.23 square miles (710.3 km2). This basin is the land area that drains water into the creek.

Joining the Black River

The creek's journey ends when it flows into the Black River. This meeting point is located about 3 miles (4.8 km) southeast of Ingold, North Carolina. At this spot, the creek is only about 36 ft (11 m) above sea level. The Black River itself is part of a larger river system.

Smaller Streams Joining Six Run Creek

Many smaller streams and swamps flow into Six Run Creek. These are called tributaries. On the left side of the creek, as you look downstream, you'll find streams like Kings Branch and Mill Swamp. Other left-side tributaries include Tenmile Swamp and Turkey Creek.

On the right side, streams such as Hoe Swamp and Gilmore Swamp add their water. Beaverdam Swamp and Rowan Branch also join from the right. These smaller waterways help feed Six Run Creek.

Crossing the Creek

Many roads and bridges cross over Six Run Creek. These bridges help people travel across the area. Some of the roads that cross the creek include Casey Road, Faison Highway, and River Road. These crossings show how important the creek is to the local community.
