Skinnamarink TV was a fun children's TV show made in Canada and the United States. Richard Mortimer helped create it. The show first aired in the U.S. on The Learning Channel as part of their Ready Set Learn block. In Canada, it was shown on CBC Television. Lynn Harvey and Richard Mortimer worked together to bring this show to life.

What the Show is About

The show starred the musical group Sharon, Lois & Bram. Two new characters joined them: C.C. Copycat, a blue cat played by Dwayne Adams, and Ella Acapella, a young elephant played by Tikka Sherman.

Skinnamarink TV pretended to be a real TV station. It had many short funny scenes and musical parts. Sharon, Lois, and Bram played different characters in these parts. Along with Ella Acapella and C.C. Copycat, they ran a pretend TV station called Skinnamarink TV. The name came from the famous song Skidamarink. This song was always sung at the end of their earlier show, The Elephant Show.

In the main parts of the show, there was a "Big Red Button." Pushing this button would make funny and unexpected things happen in the studio!

Fun Parts of the Show (Segments)

The show was made up of many different short segments. Here are some of them:

  • A Nosey Moment with Nosey Parker: In some Season 2 episodes, Nosey Parker would pop in with her cleaning cart. She would give advice to someone about a certain topic.
  • Construction Site: This was a craft show where Shameless O'Toole (played by Bram) taught kids how to make cool things.
  • Cookie's Diner: Cookie LaFrano (played by Lois) owned a diner. She would sing songs and make food for her customers.
  • Crazy Jake's Joke Emporium: Crazy Jake (played by Bram) was a funny jokester. He would tell jokes to kids, and Ella would hide in doors on a wall. This segment was like a commercial.
  • Creepytime: This segment featured three nappers (Sharon, Lois, and Bram). They would get goosebumps from each other.
  • Ellavision: Ella hosted this show in Season 2. Kids would try to guess a secret word. This word would open up the "Ellavision rock." C.C. Copycat and his puppet, Copykitty, helped her host.
  • Finger Play: Sharon, Lois, or Bram would sing a song or tell a story using only their fingers. This was a new segment in Season 2.
  • Go-Go-Go: This was a workout show! Patti Pert (played by Sharon) led kids in exercises through songs. Lois, Bram, Ella, and C.C. Copycat also joined in.
  • Good News: A news program where Lianna Brianna Smith (played by Sharon) was the news anchor. She would interview different people.
  • Good Sports: Like "Good News," but all about sports! Kenny G. Whiz (played by Lois) was the sports reporter.
  • Good Weather: Similar to the other "Good" shows, but focused on weather. Percy P. Tation (played by Bram) was the weatherman.
  • Hmmm: A science show with Professor Hmmm (played by Bram) and his helper, Ella. In Season 2, his sisters, Professor Ohhh (Sharon) and Professor Ahhh (Lois), sometimes helped with experiments.
  • Inspector Gumshoe: This was about a detective named Inspector Gumshoe (played by Bram) and his sidekick (Ella).
  • The Late Late Show: A show that featured old movies. Sharon, Lois, Bram, C.C., and Ella would play characters from the movie.
  • Lost From Space: A funny version of the TV show Lost in Space.

  • Soap Opera: A musical soap opera.
  • The Farm Report: Henny Hayseed (played by Lois) hosted a talk show on a farm. She had three kids helping her. Special animal guests would appear on her show. After talking, Henny would sing a song about the guest. Sometimes, Henny's cousins Penny (Sharon) and Lenny (Bram) would visit.
  • The Singing Sage: The Singing Sage (played by Sharon) was a fortune teller. She tried to solve people's problems by singing.
  • 2 of a Kind: A funny show about two conjoined twins named Milly and Tilly (played by Sharon and Lois).
  • What to Wear: Chi Chi Darling (played by Lois) was a fashion expert. She gave kids advice on what to wear for any situation.
