Skunk Run is a small stream, or tributary, located in western Pennsylvania, United States of America. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one. Skunk Run flows into Slippery Rock Creek, which is a bigger waterway.

Where is Skunk Run Located?

Skunk Run starts in the eastern part of Lawrence County. It begins near the border between Shenango Township and Slippery Rock Township.

Its Journey to Slippery Rock Creek

From its starting point, Skunk Run flows towards the southeast. It travels for about 2.93 miles (4.72 kilometers). Eventually, it reaches and joins Slippery Rock Creek. This meeting point is inside the beautiful McConnells Mill State Park. You can find it just a bit downstream from the Armstrong Bridge.

The Area Around the Stream

The land area that drains water into Skunk Run is called its watershed. This watershed covers about 1.86 square miles (4.82 square kilometers). Nearly half of this area is covered by forests. This means the stream flows through many trees and natural areas.

Part of a Bigger River System

Skunk Run is a small part of a much larger network of waterways. It flows into Slippery Rock Creek, which then flows into the Beaver River. The Beaver River eventually joins the Ohio River, which is a major river in the United States.

Bridges Over Skunk Run

Even though it's a small stream, several roads cross over Skunk Run. These include Ellwood Road, Frew Road, and Hogue Road. These bridges help people travel easily across the area.
