How Sky Joined Sarah Jane's Family
Sky Smith first appeared in the very first story of the fifth series, Sky (The Sarah Jane Adventures). She arrived as a baby, left right on Sarah Jane's doorstep. It was soon discovered that Sky was created by a group of human-like aliens. They were fighting a war against the 'Metalkind' on their home planets.
Sky was designed to create a huge energy blast. This blast would destroy both herself and the Metalkind. She grew from a baby to a twelve-year-old girl in just a few hours after arriving. The Metalkind were drawn to Earth because one of them was linked to a power station.
Luckily, Clyde Langer and Rani Chandra managed to turn off the power station. This big energy surge actually "disarmed" Sky. It stopped her from being a living bomb. However, she still kept some cool electric powers! After all this, the mysterious Shopkeeper gave Sky a choice to stay. She happily agreed to become Sarah Jane's adopted daughter.
The Curse of Clyde Langer
In the episode The Curse of Clyde Langer, Clyde had a strange problem. He touched a piece of a totem pole at a museum. After that, everyone who heard his name became angry with him. Sarah Jane, Rani, his mother, and even Luke all started to reject him. Clyde ended up living on the streets because of this strange curse.
Sky was the only one not affected by the curse. This was because she is not fully human, even though she looks like one. The curse only seemed to work on humans. Sky noticed that people who hated Clyde couldn't explain why. She visited Clyde's mother and started to understand what was happening.
Sky found out that Clyde's name was cursed because of the totem pole. An ancient alien warrior, Hetocumtek, was trapped inside it. The splinter from the pole activated the warrior's power. Sky then convinced Sarah Jane and Rani to say Clyde's name many times. This broke the curse over them. Finally, Clyde was back to normal. He bravely touched the totem pole, destroying it and freeing himself.
The Man Who Never Was
In The Man Who Never Was, Sky helped investigate a new computer system called Serf. She went with Sarah Jane and Luke to the Serf factory. There, Sky and Luke noticed Mr. Serf, the company's boss, flickering. No one else saw this. Sky saw it because she is sensitive to electricity. Luke saw it because of his sharp senses.
They told Sarah Jane, and Sky helped Mr. Smith find video proof of the glitch. She went back to the factory with Sarah Jane. Sky and Luke explored and felt strange electrical signals below them. They took a lift down. At the bottom, they found the technology creating Mr. Serf. They also found the aliens behind it.
These aliens were slaves called Skullions. The man controlling them, Harrison, captured Sky and Luke. Sky felt very sorry for the Skullions. She tried to talk to one of them. Sky had a clever idea to use K9's dog whistle. She used it to send a secret Morse code message to Mr. Smith. He then told Clyde and Rani.
Sky helped free the Skullions. She and Luke had to control the Serf hologram when Harrison tried to use his devices to hurt the Skullions. By using the hypnotic Serf hologram, Sky managed to destroy Harrison's control pen. This also turned off the hologram. During this adventure, Sky learned a lot about her own importance. She also grew closer to Luke, who truly saw her as his sister.
