The Curse of Clyde Langer is a two-part adventure from The Sarah Jane Adventures. It first aired on CBBC on October 10 and 11, 2011. This exciting story was the second one in the show's fifth and final series.

The Story of Clyde's Curse

Part 1: The Curse Begins

At school, Clyde shows his friend Rani a comic he drew called The Silver Bullet. Meanwhile, Sarah Jane is talking with Haresh about Sky's first day at school. Suddenly, a strange storm starts, and fish begin to fall from the sky!

Mr Smith explains that raining fish is a natural event, but these fish are unusually large. The team thinks it might be linked to an old Mojave totem pole at a local museum. They decide to visit the exhibition. Outside, Clyde gives some money to a homeless girl. He tells Sky that it's probably not the girl's fault she's on the streets. Inside the museum, Clyde ignores the "do not touch" signs and gets a splinter from the totem pole.

Dr. Madigan, the expert in charge, tells them about the totem pole's legend. Hetocumtek was a mean god who fell from the sky. He tried to make the Mojave people his slaves. The Native American medicine men trapped this god inside the totem pole. Sarah Jane thinks Hetocumtek was an alien pretending to be a god. However, a scan shows no alien signs at all.

That night, Clyde finishes his comic and signs his name. He falls asleep, not noticing that his name on all his papers starts to glow orange.

The next day, Clyde shows Sarah Jane The Silver Bullet. She likes the comic at first. But when she says his name, Clyde's name glows orange in her eyes. Suddenly, she dislikes Clyde and tells him to leave her house. Clyde tries to tell Rani and Haresh what happened with Sarah Jane. But when Haresh says his name, the same thing happens. Haresh kicks him out of school, and Rani says she hates him. Clyde realizes the totem pole cursed him. If anyone says his name, they will instantly hate him, leaving him all alone.

Sky is getting ready for her first day of school. She goes into the attic. Sarah Jane tells her she will go back to the museum to check the totem pole. When Sky mentions Clyde, Sarah Jane tells her to stay away from him. Sky is not affected by the curse, so she notices Sarah Jane's sudden hatred for Clyde.

At the park, Clyde's old friend Steve is kind to him until he says Clyde's name. Clyde barely escapes Steve and his friends. He goes to the museum and asks Dr. Madigan about curses. Sarah Jane enters and tells Dr. Madigan to stay away from Clyde. Now under the curse, Dr. Madigan orders security guards to throw Clyde out.

Clyde goes home and sees his mother, Carla, looking at an envelope for him. She says he ruined her life and tells him to leave. Clyde begs her to let him stay. When the police arrive because Sarah Jane complained, he runs away. He tries to get money from an ATM, but the screen fills with his name. Out in the rain, the homeless girl Clyde helped earlier offers to help him. He takes her hand.

Part 2: Breaking the Spell

The mysterious girl introduces herself as Ellie. Clyde is scared of the curse, so he tells her his name is Enrico Box, inspired by a pizza box nearby. Ellie tells him that many homeless people disappear because of something called the Night Dragon.

Lightning bursts from the totem pole at the museum. Sarah Jane is called to investigate. She scans it and finds alien energy. She sees the eyes of one of the faces on the pole glow orange. At school, Sky wonders why Sarah Jane and Rani can't explain why they hate Clyde. Back in the attic, Sarah Jane suddenly feels very sad. Rani feels the same way later, and so does Carla when Sky visits her. They all feel like a big part of their life is missing.

Clyde and Ellie visit Mystic Mags, a homeless psychic. She tells them something worse than the Night Dragon is coming. She says it has put a curse on Clyde. Back at the museum, the totem pole causes a huge thunderstorm. The faces on the pole start to come alive. Clyde and Ellie shelter from the rain. They connect with each other and keep warm by burning The Silver Bullet comic.

Back in the attic, Sarah Jane and Rani share their feelings of sadness. Sky learns that Hetocumtek is getting stronger. She guesses that Clyde woke up the warrior god when he got the splinter, which started the curse. She realizes that as long as Clyde is on the streets, the alien god will get more powerful. Sky also figures out that Clyde's name is the key to stopping Hetocumtek. She convinces Sarah Jane and Rani to say Clyde's name over and over. This breaks the curse!

Clyde draws a picture of Ellie. He shows it to her, and she kisses him. She leaves to get coffee, promising to return. Sarah Jane and the gang arrive and bring Clyde to the attic. He doesn't want to leave Ellie. Mr. Smith brings the totem pole to the attic, where it starts to fight back. Clyde holds onto the pole. He angrily blames it for ruining his life and shouts, "My name is Clyde Langer!" This makes the pole fall apart.

Clyde is now free of the curse. His friends and family welcome him back. He searches for Ellie, asking many homeless people, but no one knows her. Clyde suggests using Mr. Smith to find her. But Rani points out her name on a poster, showing that Ellie is not her real name. A truck with "Night Dragon Haulage" drives by. One of the homeless men explains that the driver sometimes takes people to other places for a better life. That night, in his room, Clyde looks at his portrait of Ellie and thinks about her.
