The Sarah Jane Adventures was a fun science fiction TV show from the UK. It started in 2007 and finished in 2011. The show was a spin-off from the very popular British series Doctor Who.
The main star of the show was Elisabeth Sladen. She played a journalist named Sarah Jane Smith. Sarah Jane was a special friend, called a companion, to the Third and Fourth Doctor in the older Doctor Who series. Elisabeth Sladen first played Sarah Jane from 1973 to 1976. Many people thought Sarah Jane was the Doctor's most popular companion. She even appeared in a new Doctor Who episode called "School Reunion" with her robot dog, K-9.
Unlike another Doctor Who spin-off called Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures was made especially for children. That's why it was shown on the CBBC Channel.

How The Sarah Jane Adventures Connects to Doctor Who
This TV series had many cool connections to Doctor Who. For example, the Slitheen family, who first appeared in the Doctor Who episode "Aliens of London", showed up in two stories in the first series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Also, the Sontarans, who were first seen in the Doctor Who story The Time Warrior, appeared in two stories in the second series.
The Doctor himself also appeared in some episodes! David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor, was in "The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith". Later, Matt Smith, who played the Eleventh Doctor, appeared in "Death of the Doctor".
Doctor Who also used ideas from The Sarah Jane Adventures. In the Doctor Who episode "Turn Left", the Doctor mentioned the Trickster. The Trickster was an enemy that had only appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures before that. Sarah Jane also appeared in Doctor Who episodes "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End" with her adopted son, Luke Smith.
