Maria Jackson's Story
Meeting Sarah Jane and the Bane
In the episode "Invasion of the Bane", Maria moves in with her dad, Alan. Her parents are divorced but get along well. Sarah Jane Smith lives across the street.
Maria helps Sarah Jane shut down the Bubble Shock! factory. This factory was secretly run by aliens called the Bane. The Bane wanted to destroy humans and take over Earth. Maria also helped a young boy escape from the Bane. This boy later became known as Luke Smith. Maria also became friends with a neighbor named Kelsey Hooper. Kelsey was involved in the Bane attack, but she never appeared in the series again.
New School and New Aliens
In Revenge of the Slitheen, Maria starts a new school with Luke. There, she meets Clyde Langer. They soon discover that their teachers are actually aliens called Slitheen. The Slitheen plan to crash the moon into Earth and turn off the Sun. Maria, Luke, and Clyde manage to stop them, but some Slitheen escape.
Together, the group later faces other aliens. They meet the Gorgons in Eye of the Gorgon. They also encounter the Uvodni aliens in Warriors of Kudlak, which takes place on an alien spaceship.
Saving Luke and Mr Smith
In the first series finale, The Lost Boy, Luke is kidnapped. The kidnappers claim he is not an alien creation, but a real boy with special powers. Sarah Jane is accused of kidnapping him. Maria and Clyde are the only ones who believe she is innocent.
Luke's "real" parents turn out to be Slitheen aliens. Sarah Jane's computer, Mr Smith, provided false evidence that Luke was their son. Maria helps her dad, K-9, and Sarah Jane. They use a super-computer virus to mess up Mr Smith's memory. Luke is freed from Mr Smith, who wanted to use Luke's powers to destroy Earth. Sarah Jane then gives Mr Smith a new, good mission.
Maria's Later Adventures
Maria and her dad are traveling in Cornwall during the Doctor Who episodes "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End". Luke mentions this in the show.
In the second series premiere, The Last Sontaran, Maria moves to America. Her dad got a new job in Washington, D.C.. In The Day of the Clown, Maria still keeps in touch with Luke and Sarah Jane through email. In The Mark of the Berserker, Luke and Rani contact Maria and her dad. They ask for help to learn about an alien pendant. Maria and her dad hack into the UNIT database. They track Paul and Clyde's movements and send them to Carla Langer's satnav device.
In the third series, The Mad Woman in the Attic, it is mentioned that Maria helps the government hide aliens. Clyde even calls her the "new Sarah Jane". Since she is in Washington, D.C., it is not clear if she is helping the British or U.S. government, or UNIT. In the fourth series, The Nightmare Man, Luke chats with Maria online. She is also seen in old video clips in Death of the Doctor and The Man Who Never Was.
Alternate Timelines
In Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?, a villain called the Trickster changes the past. This makes Sarah Jane disappear from history. Maria is the only one who remembers Sarah Jane. She is desperate to find answers.
Maria gets the attention of a Graske. She uses the Graske to go back in time. She goes to the moment the Trickster changed history. In that moment, Sarah Jane was supposed to die instead of her friend Andrea Yates. When Maria returns to the present, the Trickster makes her disappear too. She meets Sarah Jane in a place called limbo. The Trickster had put Sarah Jane there to find new people to target.
Back on Earth, Maria's dad notices she is gone. He believes her stories about the mysterious "Sarah Jane". He convinces Andrea Yates, who lived a long life because Sarah Jane died, to cancel her deal with the Trickster. This brings the timeline back to normal.
Parallel World Events
Maria is mentioned for the first time in Doctor Who in the episode "Turn Left". In this episode, a "Time Beetle" creates a different reality. In this new reality, Donna Noble never met the Doctor. This leads to the Doctor's death.
In this new reality where the Doctor is dead, Maria is killed. Sarah Jane, Luke, Clyde, and Martha Jones are also killed. They were trying to stop the events of the episode "Smith and Jones".
