Slea Head facts for kids
Slea Head (in Irish: Ceann Sléibhe) is a special piece of land that sticks out into the sea. It is located on the very western edge of the Dingle Peninsula in southwest County Kerry, Ireland. This area is part of the province of Munster.
Slea Head is known for its beautiful views. It is also very close to Dunmore Head, which is the most western point of all Ireland. From Slea Head, you can see the amazing Blasket Islands in the distance. The rocks here are made of old sandstone and other rocky materials. They were formed a very long time ago, during the Devonian period.
On March 11, 1982, a Spanish ship called the Ranga got into trouble. It lost power during a storm and was wrecked near Dunmore Head, close to Slea Head.

After seeing these sights, the Slea Head Drive loops back towards Dingle. Dingle is a lively town and the main center of the Kerry Gaeltacht. A Gaeltacht is an area where the Irish language is still spoken every day.
