Patrick Leroy "Sleepy" Brown (born January 24, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is a key member of the music production group Organized Noize from Atlanta. This group is famous for creating hit songs for major artists like Outkast, Goodie Mob, and TLC.

One of their biggest successes was the song "Waterfalls" by TLC. Brown co-wrote the song, which became a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1995. This made it one of the most popular songs of the year.

Music Career

Sleepy Brown was born in Savannah, Georgia. His father, Jimmy Brown, was the lead singer and saxophone player for the 1970s funk band Brick, so music has always been a big part of his life.

Working as a Producer and Singer

As part of Organized Noize, Brown helped shape the sound of Southern hip hop. A record producer is like a director for a song, helping artists create their sound, arranging the music, and managing the recording process.

Besides producing for others, Brown is also a talented singer. He has released his own music and has been a featured artist on many famous songs. One of his most well-known features was on Outkast's hit song "The Way You Move" with Big Boi. The song was a huge success, reaching number one in the United States.

He also released the popular single "I Can't Wait," which was part of the soundtrack for the movie Barbershop 2: Back in Business.

Solo Albums

Brown released his first solo album, Sleepy's Theme–The Vinyl Room, in 1998. He later signed with Big Boi's record label, Purple Ribbon Records, and released his second album, Mr. Brown, in 2006.
