Stayve Jerome Thomas (born September 8, 1979), known as Slim Thug, is an American rapper. He became well-known for his part in the 2004 song "Still Tippin'" with Paul Wall and Mike Jones.
The next year, he was featured on Beyoncé's song "Check on It". This song became a number one hit and won an MTV Video Music Award. Slim Thug also signed with Interscope Geffen A&M and the Neptunes' Star Trak Entertainment. He then released his first album, Already Platinum (2005). This album reached number two on the Billboard 200 music chart. His second album, Boss of All Bosses (2009), reached number 15. He also appeared on Gwen Stefani's 2005 song "Luxurious".

Early Life and Start in Music
Stayve Thomas grew up in Houston, Texas. When he was 17, he started rapping at high school parties. He would make up rhymes on the spot, which is called "freestyle rapping."
He began his music journey with a group called Swishahouse in the late 1990s. He soon realized he could make money by selling his own music collections, known as mixtapes. So, he decided to start his own music company, called Boss Hogg Outlawz. He also bought two music stores and worked in real estate. Stayve went to Eisenhower High School.
Music Career Highlights
First Album: Already Platinum (2005)
Slim Thug's first album, Already Platinum, came out in July 2005. It was released with The Neptunes' Star Trak Entertainment and Geffen Records. The album was very popular, reaching number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It sold 130,000 copies in its first week.
Some of the popular songs from this album included "3 Kings" (with T.I. and Bun B) and "I Ain't Heard of That" (with Pharrell and Bun B). Before this album, Slim Thug was featured on "Still Tippin'" in 2004. In the same year his album came out, he was also on Beyoncé Knowles's hit song "Check on It" and Gwen Stefani's "Luxurious".
With his group, the Boss Hogg Outlawz, Slim Thug released three albums: Boyz N Blue (2004), Serve & Collect (2007), and Back by Blockular Demand: Serve & Collect II (2008). He left Star Trak and Geffen Records in 2008.
Second Album: Boss of All Bosses (2009)
Slim Thug's second solo album, Boss of All Bosses, was released in 2009. It debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album included the song "I Run".
Later Albums: Tha Thug Show and Thug Life
Slim Thug's third studio album was Tha Thug Show. His first song from this album was "Gangsta," which featured Z-Ro. Another song, "So High," featured rapper and singer B.o.B. This album was released on November 30, 2010.
In March 2020, Slim Thug released his album Thug Life. Around that time, he also shared that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
Personal Life
According to MTV News, the music video for Lupe Fiasco's song "Hip Hop Saved My Life" was based on Slim Thug's life story.
Slim Thug is 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm) tall. He enjoys running, which he says has helped him stay healthy and lose weight.
