Smith is a small place in Lyon County, Nevada. It is an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county.
Smith's Early Days
People first started living in Smith way back in 1859. The community got its name from the T. B. Smith family. They were among the first to settle near this spot. A post office, where people could send and receive mail, opened in Smith in 1892.

For travel by air, Smith has a place called Rosaschi Air Park. It's a small airport that serves the community.
