Smoky Lake is a beautiful alpine lake located high up in the Smoky Mountains of Idaho. It's found in Blaine County and is part of the large Sawtooth National Forest. This lake is also a glacial lake, which means it was formed by huge, slow-moving glaciers long, long ago.
Location and How to Visit
Even though there aren't specific hiking trails that lead right to Smoky Lake, it's easiest to get there by following forest road 170 until it ends. From that point, you can find your way to the lake. Smoky Lake is located just southeast of a mountain peak called Prairie Creek Peak. It's also close to other interesting lakes in the area, such as Little Lost Lake, Big Lost Lake, and both the Upper and Lower Norton lakes.
