Hershey's Snack Barz are yummy candy bars made by The Hershey Company. They are a mix of crunchy crisped rice and soft marshmallow, all covered in delicious Hershey's milk chocolate.
Snack Barz combine crispy rice with marshmallow. This mix is then covered in a layer of Hershey's milk chocolate.
Snack Barz Flavors
In 2004, The Hershey Company launched three exciting flavors of Snack Barz. These were Hershey's Chocolate Creme, Reese's Peanut Butter, and Hershey's S'mores Marshmallow Creme.
Later, in 2005, the company added two new flavors. These tasty additions were Caramel and Cookies 'n Creme.
How Snack Barz Are Made
The Hershey Company makes and packages Hershey's Snack Barz. Each Snack Bar has two layers of a crispy rice and marshmallow mix.
A creamy marshmallow layer is placed between these two crispy pieces. This helps the layers stick together. Finally, the whole bar is dipped in Hershey's chocolate before it is wrapped up.
Snack Barz were sold in two sizes: 1.5 ounces and 2.1 ounces. The smaller bar cost about 70 cents. The larger 2.1-ounce bar sold for about US$1.05.
Advertising Snack Barz
Hershey's Snack Barz were advertised as a healthier candy bar option. They had zero grams of trans fat. They were also a good source of important nutrients. These included calcium, iron, and "seven essential vitamins." One bar provided about fifteen percent of the daily recommended amount of these vitamins.
Because of these health claims, The Hershey Company focused its advertising on parents. They wanted to show parents that Snack Barz could be a good choice for their children.
