Snehlata Shrivastava (born 18 September 1957) is an important Indian government official. She worked as the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha from 2017 to 2020. The Lok Sabha is one of the two main parts of India's Parliament. She was the first woman to hold this very important position. Before that, she worked for the government of Madhya Pradesh state for many years.

About Snehlata Shrivastava
Snehlata Shrivastava was born in Kanpur, India, on 18 September 1957. Her parents were Ramesh Chandra Shrivastava and Premlata Shrivastava. She got married to Sanjay Shrivastava on 29 November 1985. They have one child together.
Her Education
Snehlata Shrivastava studied at Barkatullah University in Bhopal. She earned a master's degree in geography. She also got a Master of Philosophy degree. This degree focused on how different areas grow and develop economically.
Her Career in Government
Snehlata Shrivastava joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1982. The IAS is a special group of highly skilled government workers. They help run the country's public services.
Early Roles in Madhya Pradesh
From August 1985 to July 1988, she worked on helping people affected by the Bhopal disaster. This was a terrible gas leak accident. She was an Under Secretary and Additional Collector during this time.
Later, from July 1988 to February 1989, she was a collector and district magistrate in the Mandsaur district. This meant she was in charge of the district's administration.
Working in Different Departments
In Madhya Pradesh, Snehlata Shrivastava held many important roles. She was a Deputy Secretary in the Home Department from 1989 to 1994. She also worked in the Energy, Commerce and Industry, and Finance departments.
From December 1998 to February 2000, she was the executive director of Madhya Pradesh's Mining Corporation. This role involved managing mining activities in the state.
Later Government Work
From 2005 to 2007, she worked for Rail India Technical and Economic Service. Here, she was the Chief Vigilance Officer. This role involved making sure rules were followed and preventing corruption.
After that, from 2007 to 2017, she worked in many different areas. These included education, revenue, culture, and justice departments in Madhya Pradesh.
Leading the Lok Sabha
On 1 December 2017, Snehlata Shrivastava became the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha. This was a very important moment because she was the first woman to ever hold this position. She took over from Anoop Mishra.
She served in this role until 30 November 2020. After her, Utpal Kumar Singh became the new Secretary General on 1 December 2020.
