Snow Creek is a fun ski resort located high up on the bluffs. These bluffs are hills overlooking the Missouri River in Platte County, Missouri. It's not far from Kansas City, Missouri, and is close to a small village called Iatan. Snow Creek first opened its doors in 1986. It was the second ski area created by a company called Peak Resorts.
About Snow Creek Ski Area
Snow Creek is a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding. It sits across the river from Kansas. The resort even has a special tubing trail called "Tornado Alley." This name is a nod to the Midwest region, which sometimes experiences tornadoes.
A Quick Look at the Resort
The highest point at Snow Creek is about 1,099 feet (335 m) above sea level. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy a vertical drop of 300 feet (91 m). This means you go down 300 feet from the top to the bottom of the main slopes.
The resort has three chair lifts to take you up the mountain. It also has three surface lifts, which are like moving ropes or bars that pull you along the snow. There are 11 different trails to explore. These include one advanced trail for experienced skiers and two easy trails perfect for beginners. The total area for skiing is about 25 acres (100,000 m2). The mailing address for Snow Creek is in Weston, Missouri.
New Ownership for Snow Creek
In 2019, Snow Creek became part of a bigger company. Vail Resorts, a large ski resort company based in Colorado, bought Snow Creek. This purchase was part of a big deal that included many other resorts from the Peak Resorts chain.
