This lake is quite large. It stretches about 9 kilometers (which is about 5.6 miles) long. It is also about 3.1 kilometers (about 1.9 miles) wide. The lake sits at an elevation of 322 meters (about 1,056 feet) above sea level.
Water Flow and Connections
Water flows into Snowshoe Lake from the Bird River, which comes from a place called Chase Lake. The water then flows out of Snowshoe Lake, still as the Bird River, and goes into McGregor Lake. From McGregor Lake, the water travels through the Winnipeg River. Eventually, it reaches the Nelson River, which carries the water all the way to Hudson Bay. This entire system is known as the Nelson River drainage basin.
Snowshoe Lake and Nopiming Provincial Park
Some parts of Snowshoe Lake are located within Nopiming Provincial Park. This park is in Manitoba. The areas of the lake inside the park include parts on the northwest, west, and southwest sides. The spot where the Bird River flows out of the lake is also within the park's boundaries.
