Soay Mòr (which means Sòdhaigh Mòr in Scottish Gaelic) is a small island located in West Loch Tarbert. This loch is a sea inlet that separates the northern and southern parts of Harris in Scotland.

This island is not home to any people, meaning it is uninhabited. It is separated from the southwest coast of North Harris by a narrow stretch of water called the Soay Sound.

Soay Sound and Soay Beag

The Soay Sound is a small channel of water. It separates Soay Mòr from the larger island of Harris. Right next to Soay Mòr is another tiny island called Soay Beag. When the tide is low, you can even walk between Soay Mòr and Soay Beag! This makes them feel very connected.
