The Sofia Albertina Church (called Sofia Albertina kyrka in Swedish) is a very important church in Landskrona, Sweden. It belongs to the Church of Sweden. This church is special because it has two towers, which is unusual for a church that isn't a main cathedral for a bishop.
The church was officially opened in 1788. It was fully finished in 1816. A famous architect named Carl Hårleman designed the church. He passed away in 1753, the same year the old church was taken down. Some small changes might have been made to his original plans.

History of the Church
Building a New Church in Landskrona
Landskrona became a Danish town a long time ago. Around 1430, a very large church was built there. It was called Saint John the Baptist's Church. This church was huge! Only the Lund Cathedral was bigger in the area called Scania. People used this church for more than 330 years.
Why the Old Church Was Demolished
In 1720, Scania became part of Sweden. Later, a military commander decided that the old church's tall tower was a problem. He thought if cannons were placed on top, they could threaten the nearby Landskrona Citadel. So, in 1753, the old medieval church was taken down.
The Long Wait for Sofia Albertina Church
The first stone for the new Sofia Albertina Church was laid in 1754. But the town of Landskrona did not have a proper church for a long time. It took about 33 years (from 1754 to 1787) for the new church to be ready.
The Sofia Albertina Church was finally opened in 1788. It was completely finished in 1812. The church has a special set of 43 bells, called a carillon. These bells were made and put in place in 1967 by the Bergholtz Bellfoundry.
