Sofia Margareta Götschenhjelm-Helin is a famous Swedish actress. She is best known for playing the detective Saga Norén in the popular TV series The Bridge. This show is a crime drama made by both Denmark and Sweden. She was also nominated for a Guldbagge Award, which is a big film award in Sweden, for her role in the movie Dalecarlians.

About Sofia Helin's Early Life and School
Sofia Margareta Helin was born in a place called Hovsta in Örebro, Sweden. Her father worked as a salesman, and her mother was a nurse. When Sofia was very young, her family went through a sad time. Her six-year-old brother died in a car accident when she was only 10 days old. Sofia grew up in Linghem, a town near Linköping.
Sofia loved acting from a young age. From 1994 to 1996, she studied at the Calle Flygares theatre school. She then went on to graduate from the Stockholm Theatre Academy in 2001. This is where she learned many of the skills she uses in her acting career today.

Sofia Helin has had many important roles in films and TV shows. Her career started to take off in the early 2000s.
Early Film Roles
In 2003, Sofia played the main character, Chief Inspector Klara, in the film At Point Blank. The next year, in 2004, she starred as Mia in the Swedish comedy-drama movie Masjävlar. Her performance in this film was so good that she was nominated for a Guldbagge Award.
In 2007, Sofia took on another big role as Cecilia Algottsdotter in Arn. This movie was based on a famous book series about a knight. She also lent her voice to the Swedish animated film Metropia in 2009.
Becoming Famous with The Bridge
Sofia Helin became very well-known outside of Sweden after 2012. This was when the first season of the TV crime drama The Bridge aired. In this show, she played a unique and memorable character named Saga Norén. Saga was a detective from Malmö, Sweden, who worked on difficult crime cases.
The Bridge became a huge hit, especially in the UK, where over a million people watched each episode. Sofia's portrayal of Saga Norén was praised. Many people saw Saga as a role model, especially for women who might have Asperger syndrome, a condition that affects how people interact socially. The show was so popular that its fourth and final season aired in 2018.
Recent Projects and International Work
After The Bridge, Sofia continued to work on many interesting projects. In 2015, she starred in a Danish science fiction film called Fang Rung. That same year, she acted in a British and German TV series called The Same Sky. This show was about Berlin in the 1970s, when the city was divided. Sofia spoke both German and English in the series, which was filmed in Prague.
More recently, Sofia has appeared in other international shows. In 2020, she played an archaeologist in the second season of the Australian TV crime drama Mystery Road. In 2023, she took on the lead role in the Swedish TV crime drama Fallen. For this show, she worked again with the same director who worked on The Bridge.
One of her newest roles is Julia Rothman, the leader of a group called Scorpia, in the third season of the UK series Alex Rider. This show started airing in April 2024.
Sofia Helin's Personal Life
Sofia Helin has a scar on her face. This scar is from a bicycle accident she had when she was 24 years old.
Sofia is married to Daniel Götschenhjelm. Daniel is a priest in the Church of Sweden and used to be an actor. They met when they were both studying at drama school. Sofia and Daniel have two children, a son and a daughter. In 2015, Sofia was living in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. Sofia is a Christian.
