Sollana is a small town in Spain. It is located in the Valencian Community, which is an area on the eastern coast of Spain. Sollana is part of a larger region called Ribera Baixa. Another small village, El Romaní, is also part of the Sollana area.

Sollana is built on the flat land near the Júcar River. This area is famous for being where rice was first grown in Spain. That was about 1,200 years ago! It's also known as the home of paella, a very popular Spanish dish made with rice. Most people in Sollana work in farming. They grow rice and oranges, and also raise animals.

Later, during the time of al-Andalus (when parts of Spain were ruled by Muslims), Sollana was called Sulyanah. It was the main village for a region that included other small places like Romaní.

Becoming Part of Aragon

In the 1200s, a period called the Reconquista happened. This is when Christian kingdoms took back control of Spain. James I of Aragon was a king who gave Sollana to one of his trusted helpers. Over time, Sollana became part of a large estate called the Dukedom of Híjar.
