Sonja Aldén and Melodifestivalen
Melodifestivalen is a big music contest in Sweden. The winner gets to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. Sonja Aldén has competed in this exciting event four times.
First Try in 2006
In Melodifestivalen 2006, Sonja used the stage name Sonya. She sang a song called "Etymon". Even though she performed well, she did not make it to the final round of the competition that year.
Return in 2007
Sonja came back to Melodifestivalen 2007 with a beautiful ballad called "För att du finns" (which means "Because you exist"). This song was very popular! It finished 4th in its semifinal in Örnsköldsvik. This meant it got a "Second Chance" spot, which is a special round where songs that didn't qualify directly can try again.
Back Again in 2012
After five years, Sonja returned to Melodifestivalen 2012. She sang "I din himmel" (meaning "In Your Heaven"). Unfortunately, this song also did not make it to the final.
Latest Appearance in 2020
On 26 November 2019, it was announced that Sonja would compete in Melodifestivalen 2020. She sang her song "Sluta aldrig gå" (meaning "Never stop walking") in the first semifinal. She finished in fifth place and did not qualify for the final.
