The Sooes River is a cool stream located on the Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington, USA. It starts high up in the northwestern Olympic Mountains and flows all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Where the Sooes River Flows
The Sooes River begins its journey in the northwest part of the Olympic Peninsula. From there, it flows mostly towards the northwest.
Many smaller streams join the Sooes River along its journey. These are called tributaries. Some of these tributaries include Snag Creek, Shafter Creek, Pilchuck Creek, Thirty Cent Creek, Miller Creek, Grimes Creek, Tyler Creek, and Kallapa Creek.
Near its end, the river flows through the land of the Makah Reservation. Finally, the Sooes River flows into the Pacific Ocean. It reaches the ocean at a place called Sooes Beach, which is part of Makah Bay. This spot is about one mile south of where the Waatch River also meets the ocean.
