Soper is a small town located in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2010, about 261 people lived there. The town got its name from Pliny L. Soper. He was a lawyer for a railroad company called the Arkansas and Choctaw Railway.

Soper's Early Days
When Soper was first established, it was part of a larger area. This area was known as Kiamitia County. Kiamitia County was one of the counties that made up the Apukshunnubbee District. This district was part of the Choctaw Nation.
Where is Soper?
Soper is located in the western-central part of Choctaw County. It is about 12 miles (19 km) west of Hugo. Hugo is the main town in the county. Soper is also about 10 miles (16 km) east of Boswell.
The town of Soper has a volunteer fire department. There is also a local gas station and a market. Many families have lived in the Soper area for a long time.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Soper covers a total area of about 0.7 square kilometers (0.27 sq mi). All of this area is land.

Schools in Soper
Soper has a public school system. Students from smaller nearby communities attend school in Soper. These communities include Buckhorn, Bluff, Gay, Nelson, and Sugar Creek. Many of these smaller places used to have their own schools. However, those schools closed, and now students go to Soper's schools.
The Soper High School baseball team has done very well. They have been in the state tournament many times. In 1992, they were the runner-up. In the spring of 2009, they won the state championship!

- Freckles Brown was a famous rodeo performer. His real name was Warren Granger Brown. He was known for riding a very difficult bull named Tornado in 1967. Freckles Brown owned and lived on a ranch near Soper.
