Souder is about thirteen miles north of a town called Gainesville. You can find it by traveling on county road 142, just north of Route 95. These roads help connect Souder to other parts of Missouri.
How Souder Got Its Name
Souder got its name from an early resident and important person in the community. A post office was opened in Souder in 1903. This post office helped people send and receive mail. The first person to be in charge of the post office was named G. W. Souder. The community was named after him. The post office served the area for many years, finally closing down in 1988.
