Team History
Starting the Team
The team was officially formed on June 19, 2011. They were ready to start playing in 2012. The Canadian Lacrosse League had several teams back then. There were two teams in Brampton: the Inferno and the Peel Avengers. The Peel Avengers later became the Niagara Lock Monsters.
There were also two teams in Six Nations: the Iroquois Ironmen and the Ohsweken Demons. Two more teams were in Oshawa: the Oshawa Machine and the Durham TurfDogs.
First Games and Seasons
On January 7, 2012, the Inferno played in the very first game of the CLax league. They won against the Iroquois Ironmen with a score of 18–11. This game took place in Hagersville, Ontario.
In their first season, the team was still called the Inferno. They played 14 games and won 8 of them. This put them in second place in the league. However, they lost in the semi-finals to the Ohsweken Demons. The score was very close, 17-16. The Demons went on to win the Creator's Cup that year.
In 2013, the Inferno had the same record, winning 8 out of 14 games. But this time, they finished in fourth place. In the playoffs, they lost to the Durham TurfDogs. This meant they did not make it to the championship game again.
Becoming the Cyclops
In December 2013, after two seasons, the team changed its name. They became the SouthWest Cyclops. They also moved their home games to Hagersville, Ontario, playing at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Then, in 2015, the team moved again. Their new home became Paris, Ontario. The SouthWest Cyclops stopped playing after the 2016 season.
