Where It Begins

The river starts high up on Caribou Mountain. This starting point is called its source. The source is in a place called Skinner, Maine. It's also very close, about 1.5 miles (2 km), to the border between the United States and Canada. The exact spot is at 45°26′21″N 70°36′14″W / 45.4393°N 70.6039°W / 45.4393; -70.6039 (South Branch Moose River source).

Where It Ends

After winding its way north for 11 miles, the South Branch Moose River meets the main Moose River. This meeting point is called its confluence. The confluence happens in a place known as Lowelltown, Maine.
