This river is like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger one, the Piscataquog River. All its water eventually joins the Merrimack River, which is a much larger river system.

Where Does This River Start?

The South Branch of the Piscataquog River starts its journey at a place called Pleasant Pond. This pond is located in the town of Francestown, New Hampshire. It's the very beginning of the river's flow.

Its Journey Through New Hampshire

From Pleasant Pond, the river first flows towards the south and southeast. It then enters the town of New Boston, New Hampshire. Here, the river changes direction. It turns and flows towards the northeast.

The South Branch continues its journey until it reaches the Piscataquog River. This meeting point is just past the town line in Goffstown, New Hampshire.

What the River Looks Like

For most of its path, the South Branch travels through a landscape of rolling hills. You might see small waterfalls along its route. These add to the beauty of the river.

A road called New Hampshire Route 13 follows the river closely. It runs alongside the South Branch from New Boston all the way to Goffstown. This makes it easy to see the river as you travel.
