South Fallsburg is a small community in Sullivan County, New York, United States. It is known as both a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP). A hamlet is a small settlement, and a CDP is an area defined by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes. South Fallsburg is part of the larger Town of Fallsburg. Discovering South Fallsburg's Past
South Fallsburg is located in the Catskill Mountains. This area was once a popular vacation spot called the Borscht Belt. Many people came here for summer getaways.
One important place is The Raleigh Hotel. It is a large hotel with 320 rooms. It serves as a special hotel for Hasidic Jews and also hosts many different groups for events.
Two buildings in South Fallsburg are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Rivoli Theatre and the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Synagogue. This means they are important historical sites. The community is also home to the Shree Muktananda Ashram, a center for Siddha Yoga.
