South Manistique Lake is a large lake in Mackinac County, Michigan. It is located in the Upper Peninsula, which is the northern part of Michigan. The lake covers about 4,001 acres (1,619 ha).
This lake is about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long and 2 miles (3.2 km) wide. It stretches from the southwest to the northeast. South Manistique Lake sits 692 feet (211 m) above sea level. It is also 6 feet (1.8 m) higher than the nearby Big Manistique Lake. Water from South Manistique Lake flows northeast through Portage Creek into Big Manistique Lake.

Nearby Community
The small community of Curtis is located near the lake. Curtis is an unincorporated community, meaning it does not have its own local government like a city or town. It serves the people who live around the lake and visitors. Curtis is on a narrow strip of land called an isthmus. This land divides South Manistique Lake from Big Manistique Lake, which is just to the north.
Lake Features
On the western side of South Manistique Lake, there is a long, narrow piece of land. It is made of gravel and stretches about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) into the lake. This feature was left behind by an ancient Ice Age glacier. It is called "Long Point."
Near the southeastern shore of the lake, you can see a small island named Norton Island.
