A Look Back in Time
South Mound was once an important stop on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad. This was a major train line that helped connect different parts of the country. Trains used to carry goods and people through the area. However, the railroad tracks were removed in 1989. This happened after the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad company merged with another company called Missouri Pacific.
South Mound also had its own post office for many years. It first opened in 1872, which was a very long time ago! People in the community would use it to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the area for almost 100 years before it closed down in 1971.
Who Lives Here?
