Spahn Ranch, also known as the Spahn Movie Ranch, was a large movie ranch located in Los Angeles County, California. It was a popular place for filming old Western movies and TV shows. The ranch had mountains and scenery that looked just like the Old West. This made it perfect for shows about cowboys and Native Americans. Some famous TV shows filmed there included episodes of Bonanza, The Lone Ranger, and Zorro.
The ranch is not used for filming anymore. Its entrance was once at 12000 Santa Susana Pass Road. The ranch became well-known because a group of people lived there in 1968 and 1969. The ranch was owned by a dairy farmer named George Spahn, who gave it his name.
What Spahn Ranch Is Like Today
Today, the Spahn Movie Ranch site is empty and abandoned. It is now part of California's Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. The historic part of the ranch is along Old Santa Susana Stage Road, on the northern side of the park.
Many hiking trails let visitors explore the natural beauty of the area. You can also see amazing views of the San Fernando Valley from here. The only physical thing left from where the group lived is called the Manson Family Cave. This cave looks exactly like it did in old photos.
