Chrystia "Tia" Cabral (born May 18, 1991), known as Spellling, is an American musician. She creates a unique style of music called experimental pop. Spellling lives in Oakland, California.

She released her first album, Pantheon of Me, in September 2017. In 2018, she joined Sacred Bones Records. Her second album, Mazy Fly, came out in February 2019. Music critics really liked its dark and mysterious sound. Spellling's third album, The Turning Wheel, was released on June 25, 2021. Her album Spellling & the Mystery School followed in 2023. Her most recent album, Portrait of My Heart, was released in 2025.

Early Life and Education

Chrystia Cabral was born in Sacramento, California. She grew up in the Catholic Church, which later influenced some of her music.

Cabral attended the University of California, Berkeley. She first studied philosophy. Later, she changed her major to English literature. She also earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Berkeley in 2019.

Musical Journey

Cabral began her music career in 2015. Two main things inspired her. She saw another artist performing with looped vocals. Also, a close friend passed away around that time.

While working as an elementary school teacher, crayons gave her an idea. She released a handmade CD called Crayola Church. She said she made a song for every color in a Crayola box. She would wrap the CDs in children's drawings.

In 2017, she released her first album, Pantheon of Me. She released it herself. Her second album, Mazy Fly, came out in 2019. It received many good reviews.

In 2021, her third album, The Turning Wheel, was released. It also got positive reviews. In 2023, she announced her fourth album, Spellling & the Mystery School. This album included re-recordings of her older songs.
