The Story of Professor Spelunx
The game has a simple story about a scientist named Professor Spelunx. He has an assistant called Mr. Seudo. The story is about their scientific adventures. Even though the game mentions them and shows their pictures, you never actually meet Professor Spelunx or Mr. Seudo in the game.
The Legacy of Spelunx
After their popular game Myst came out, Cyan updated Spelunx. In 1993, they released a new version with full color. The first version of Spelunx was mostly black and white. It only had small bits of color in certain places.
The artist Josh Staub added all the new colors and animations. This new version also included a fun secret! There was a hidden image of Myst Island in one of the original rooms. This is called an Easter egg.
More recently, the color version of Spelunx was made available for Windows computers. You can find it on Steam, a popular online game store. It's part of the Cyan Complete Pack. This pack includes Spelunx and other early games from Cyan, like Myst.
