Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was a big musical show. It was all about the famous comic book hero, Spider-Man! The story for the musical was written by Julie Taymor. The music and songs were created by Bono and The Edge from the band U2.
The musical took its ideas from a few places. It was based on the Spider-Man comic book character. This character was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It also got ideas from the 2002 Spider-Man movie. Plus, it used parts of an old Greek myth about a character named Arachne.

About the Spider-Man Musical
This musical was known for its amazing stunts. Performers would "fly" through the air, just like Spider-Man! Putting on such a complex show was a huge challenge.
Making the Show Happen
Creating Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was a very difficult process. There were many rehearsals to get the flying stunts just right. Some performers had minor accidents during these practice sessions. These challenges caused the show's opening to be delayed several times.
Changes and Opening Night
The director, Julie Taymor, eventually left the production. After many changes and more rehearsals, the musical finally opened. It started on Broadway at the Foxwoods Theatre. The first official show was on 14 June 2011. When it opened, many critics did not like the show very much.
