Spillertown is a small village located in Williamson County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2010, 203 people lived there. By 2018, the number of people living in Spillertown grew to an estimated 272. The latest count in 2020 showed 181 residents.

History of Spillertown

Spillertown officially became a village on March 3, 1900. It was named after Elijah Spiller. He was an important early settler who arrived in the area in 1817.

For many years in the 1800s, Spillertown was on a key road. This road went north from Marion to Benton. It then continued to Harmony, Indiana. That's where the closest machines for processing wool (called carding machines) were located.

A post office opened in Spillertown in 1898. However, it closed down in 1914. In August 2011, people living in Spillertown started talking with officials from nearby Marion. They discussed the idea of Spillertown becoming part of Marion.
